Bit of history of Nicodemus – its Greek name that was quite common among the Jews of Hellenistic period. He was a rule among the Jews, which probably means a member of the Sanhedrin. His nocturnal conversation with Jesus (Jn 3,2-10) and the commentary on it (3,11-21) is concerned with rebirth of man through water and spirit.  Later when the other Pharisees condemned Jesus, he tried to defend him (Jn 7,5) when Jesus died on the cross, he assisted Joseph of Arimathea in the burial of Jesus and supplied a large amount of myrrh and aloes for embalming his body (Jn 19,39) therefore is pictured as believing in Jesus only with a certain reserve and to a limited degree. They do memorial feast on 20th may each year with mass and other celebration as a family.

She was probably born in North Africa at the place called Tagaste, of Christian parents; she was married to Patricius, a pagan, known for his dissolute habits and violent temper. They had three children; St Augustine, Navigious, and Perpetua. Through her patience she was able to convert Patricius and his mother in 370. She was a windowed in 371 and for years prayed for conversion of St Augustine, who from the time he went for study at Carthage when he was seventeen lived wayward life, embraced Manichaeism, dabbled in other philosophies, and had a mistress. She followed him in Rome in 383 and then to Milan where, in 386, he embraced Christian through preaching of St Ambrose and the prayers of his mother St Monica. St Augustine was baptized on Easter in 387. she lived with Augustine , his son Adeodatus, and his associates  at cassiciacum while Augustine was preparing for baptism, and she died at Ostia , Italy , soon after as she was waiting a ship to go back to Africa. Monica is patroness of married women and is regarded as a model for Christian mothers. Her feast is on August 27th.

Much has not been said but what we know from the historical background, this name was very common used to the holy ladies prophetess’ from time of Elcana mother of Samuel up to the wife Tobias. But with traditional, we are interested in St Anna the wife of Joachim who was the mother of the blessed Mary. Our Small Christian wanted to live the holy life of mother of our blessed Mary to foster and care to the members of that community.  In the 1st century according to apocryphal Protevangelium of James, she was the wife of Joachim, both of whom were desolate because of childlessness. One day while St Anne was praying, an angel appeared to her and told her she would have a child, and Anne promised to dedicate the child to God. The child was Mary the mother of Christ. Other unreliable sources has that, she was born in Nazareth, the daughter of Akar, a nomad. She married Joachim when she about twenty years old and she gave birth to Mary when she was about forty. Joachim died just after the birth of Christ. We celebrate it on 26th July of the year. For any inquires contact the leaders of the Jumuiya.

Mary has by grace been exalted above all the angels and men to a place second only to her son, as the most holy mother of God who was involved in the mysterious of Christ: she is rightly honored by a special cult in the Church. From earliest time the blessed virgin is honored under the title of mother of God. Whose protection the faithful take refuge together in prayer in all their perils and needs. (Dogmatic of constitution on the church no 66). Pre- eminent among the saints all the factual information we have about Mary is to be found in the new Testament, and it is from this source that the role of Mary in the church has been developed nothing is known of her childhood, though the traditional has it that she was the daughter of Joachim and Anne, was born in Jerusalem, as a child was presented in the temple, and took a vow of perpetual virginity.

Accordingly to evangelists, she was betrothered. Small Christian will come together as family of Mary mother of God 1st January of the year.

  • Saint Paul was born probably 65 AD, born of  Jewish  parents of the tribe of Benjamin sometimes between 5 and 15 in Tarsus, which also made him a citizen of Rome , Soul studied under the famous Jewish rabbi, Gamaliel, in Jerusalem . A tentmaker by trade, Paul became a rigid Pharisee and a rabid persecutor of a Christians. He was present at stoning of Stephen but only as a spectator. On the way to Damascus to arrest some Christians and bring them to Jerusalem, he experienced his vision (sometimes between 34 and 36), which led not only his dramatic conversion but (in the view of tremendous impact he was to have on early Christianity) was to shape the whole Christian experience.  He spent the next three years in Arabia and then he returned to Damascus to preach. He immediately he encountered resistance from the Jews, a resistance that was to continue throughout his life and travels. The situation forced him to flee secretly from Arêtes. Between 36- 39 he went to Jerusalem to meet the Apostles, through the guidance of St Barnabas he was accepted by early Christian community. During 45-49, it took them to Cyprus, Perga, Antioch in Pisidia, and the cities of Lycaonia ; it was on that journey that Soul was changed to Paul. Paul did three major journeys in his life, thus the first one was between 45-49 to Cyprus, again 49-52 heading to Mecedonia and the third on of 53-58 to Ephesus. Paul wrote epistle to different groups instructing them how to live in harmony as Christians. He wrote too to individual in encouraging them to be faithful to the gospel of Christ and his people who were growing in faith. The traditional says that they executed the same day with St Peter in 67, according to historian Eusebius. This was during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Nero by beheading them again according to another historian called Tertullian. After reflection this group of a small Christians was fascinated by the life of St Paul and how he used his own experience to spread the gospel tirelessly.

St John was born in Galilee, son of Zebedee and Salome and young brother of James the Greater, he was a fish man on lake Genesareth until with James he called by Christ to follow him ( matt4:21-22); mark 1:19-20) he was the youngest of all the apostle. James was greater and John was called “sons of thunder” by the Lord because of their volatile temperaments. (Mark 3:17), and John become the beloved disciple (john 13:23). John did a lot for Christ; he was very enthusiastic and energetic in various activities. More so he was the only apostle at crucifixion, where Jesus placed Mary in his care (john 19:25-27) he was imprisoned with peter and appeared before Sanhedrin (Acts: 1-21) he in the first council of Jerusalem in 49. Soon after he went to minor Asia and probability he was present at the passing away of Mary mother Christ.  he was named by St Paul as pillars and leader of the Church together with Peter and James (Gal 2:9) According to traditional, he went to Rome during the reign of emperor Domitian, miraculously escaped martyrdom (he emerged unscathed from a cauldron of boiling oil, according to Tertullian), and was exiled to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the book of Revelation. He returned to Ephesus on the death of Domitian in 96 AD, wrote the fourth gospel and three epistles, and died there, the only one of the apostle who did not suffer from martyrdom. John is often surnamed “Divine” because of his theological brilliance and is represented in art as an Engle for the soaring majesty of his gospel. His feast is on December 27.

1st Century according to the legend, when Christ was carrying his cross to Calvary an unknown woman offered him a cloth to wipe his bow, and when returned it to her it bore the imprint of his face. In time she came to be known Veronica (Vera – true; icon – image) her fate after this incident is told in several different legends. In one she came to Rome and cured emperor Tiberius with her relic; on her death she bequeathed it to Pope St Clement. In another version she is the wife of Zacchaeus (the tax collector in the sycamore tree in Luke 19:1-10), accompanied him to France, where he was known as Amadour, and helped to convert the inhabitants of the southern France. And in the apocryphal the arts of Pilate, she is identified with woman Jesus cured of hemorrhage she had suffered for twelve years (matt 9:20-22) although there no truth in it. The feast is kept on July 12.
